I did notice that prior to the installation of Wireless_16.5.3_e164.exe the list of networkadapters was longer (6 to 8) but most mention the N 2230.Windows 10 Fall Creators Update and Later Servicing Drivers, Windows 10 Fall Creators Update and Later Upgrade & Servicing Drivers, Windows 10 S Version 1709 and Later Servicing Drivers for testing, Windows 10 S Version 1709 and Later Upgrade & Servicing Drivers for testing I am running a Dell Inspiron laptop, Core i5, SSD with Windows 8.1 (installed that a few days after it became available and without problems) and the following network adapters (2) are listed: Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 2230 and Qualcomm Atheros AR8162/8166/8168 PCI-E Fast Ethernet-controler (NDIS 6.30). During the deinstall, while removing the drivers, my internet connection was shortly up-and-running again, but before the deinstall was ready the same problem of no internet connection reoccured again. I then deinstalled Wireless_16.5.3_e164.exe to reinstall it with the full custom apps. What I did notice was that I first did the basic install of the Wireless_16.5.3_e164.exe and could not find the "WiFi Connection Utility" app. Unfortunately that also did not solve my problem. Wireless_16.5.3_e164.exe and used your advise listed above to check in the "WiFi Connection Utility". I deinstalled the Windows updates, but with no effect. The Windows network check indicates potential issues with both the driver of the Wi-Fi adapter and the Ethernet adapter. I also tried the wired connection but the same outcome.
Wi-fi show a strong signal but no connection to the internet. I installed a number of regular Windows updates a few days ago and after the reboot lost my internet connection. This was working fine after installing Windows 8.1 on launch day but two days ago this became the issue. It's not my Router as this is an issue anywhere I go, and my other devices (another Windows 7 and 8 (not 8.1)) work fine. (package Wireless_16.5.3_De164) - file version after install is 15.10.3.2 which Intel indicates is correct. I tried the same process above but instead of rebooting and letting it install the Microsoft default drivers I first installed the latest drivers from Intel Rebooted and it auto installs the default Microsoft Windows 8.1 drivers for the device. Removed the drivers from Windows\System32\Drivers I've uninstalled the network adapter from device manager. It won't remember the network upon reboot and the connected icon no longer looks like a WIFI icon, its an ENET icon (no enet cable connected). Then I close the WIFI menu and it shows "Connected" Connecting to the network is taking longer than usual
