Be careful though, as Houdini was known for his escape tricks! You don’t want to be trapped in his workshop forever. Harry Houdini dedicated himself to debunking self-proclaimed mystics in his later years, so you can be sure that his workshop is full of clues and secrets to be uncovered. Our escape rooms are based in NYC, so you can experience the thrill of being in the same city as the famed illusionist himself. If you’re looking for an escape room that’s full of fun puzzles and challenges, then Houdini’s Workshop is perfect for you. So come, be amazed, and get pictures of your friends looking dumb. It is a sequential discovery puzzle, which was attempted by Chris Ramsay a while back. Houdini is a unique magic themed escape room in that it also features several moments that are perfect group photo opportunities – and unlike many other rooms, we want you to take pictures in Houdini! It was to celebrate the great Harry Houdini's escape feat in 1912 performed in Berlin. We spent a great of time working out the best ways to present magic tricks to players, without someone in the room to perform the trick for the players, and without giving away to the players the secret to the effect. Houdini’s Workshop is heavily inspired by magic shows and the illusions of Houdini, with several moments in the game that use elements of stage magic seamlessly along with the puzzles to create a truly mystifying experience for your team.

Tony Curtis for coming up with the name for this effect. Our Houdini escape room takes you back in time to 1926, to the place where Houdini prepared all his illusions and tricks for his shows. This effect has been completely hand-crafted from genuine teak wood with a lightly distressed oil finish. The frame stands approximately 13cms high, 15.5cms wide, 6.5cms deep and the block is 2.5” square. The rope can also be immediately removed from the frame at the end of the performance! What elevates this far more than similar effects is that it only uses one rope with no looping or threads involved. Houdini Block Escape has been inspired by Jack Hughes’ Cuban Release which is still one of the very best block and rope penetrations in magic. Despite this restrained situation, the performer, without any cover, pulls the block forward until it is completely clear of the frame and unattached from the rope! The block is then tossed into the air while the rope can still be clearly seen through the frame where the block was imprisoned only a moment earlier! It is an incredible illusion. The rope is now threaded through the block, which is then locked into an elevated wooden frame while still allowing the ends of the rope to remain in full view. The performer displays a block of wood which has a hole running through its center and a length of rope.
